Washing with water before RSO/FECO extraction

Post Body

I recently read a comment on a different site from someone who claimed they wash their bud in a cheesecloth until the water comes out clear. Then they dry the flower again and start extracting the RSO/FECO as usual. Apparently this gives a less harsher final product.

Has anyone tried this and if so is it worth it?

EDIT: The wash is not a bud wash to clean the plant, but a few hour long soak in water to pull chlorophyll, sugars, phenols and other stuff out of the shredded flower before decarbing and letting it soak in ethanol.

Oh wait I shot too fast and didn't fully read sorry. 😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😵‍💫🙇🏻

Yes this would work but so would working with colder booze.

This is done increasingly more to improve quality of flower. I could definitely see the use if you wanted to wash off pesticides and dirt and such cause that's all coming along into the extraction but assuming your flower is clean I wouldn't see the need.

If your friend's tinctures taste noticeably less harsh after washing he might be using something s lil too spicy in a little too high a quantity.
