Question about hydromorphone and cognition
Post Body

Mt mom has stage 4 pancreatic. The Dr recently increased her long acting hyrdromorphone and since then she's been showing concerning and strange behavior. She is right out of most of the time, talking nonsensical and doing nonsensical things. she is not herself.

A month ago she was sick with pneumonia and was having bouts for delirium. The Dr said that this is common in seriously I'll patients. I asked if the pain medicine could be the contributing factor and he more or less said that was unlikely.

Last yeah however, my mom had abdominal surgery. They gave her hyrdromorphone and she was not herself. Having delusions, being snappy and aggressive. Naturally, my momma is so quiet and sweet and polite. Sharp as a tack. Her behavior this past week reminds me so much of how she was last year.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?
