Post Body

Tired of having to worry about what you say and where you say it? Well, here is the place to speak your truth, plain and simple. Well, not quite.

This is not a hate group and you will be kicked if you espouse hate and reported beyond the group. If you promote acts of violence towards a group or individual, you will also be kicked - this is a place of words and ideas, not knuckles. If you cannot deal with that, go find yourself a fight club to join.

Here is where we can discuss things in a rational and reasonable way that might result in people reacting in unreasonable ways. Have thin skin, easily hurt feelings, or an ego that bruises as effortlessly as a banana, you might want to find the door.

There is a lot of irrationality out there in the world, a dearth of critical thought and reasoning, and this is where we can converge - extremist views and attitudes can be discussed here safely and logically in the hopes of perpetuating and spreading rationalism to our socially mediated world.

Rules will evolve as we go ... one cannot predict where things will go (or how wrong they will get), so do keep up with that. In the interim, share your thoughts and feel free to discuss what is on your mind.

Some basic posting rules:

  • Posts should start with Cancel_THIS and then the name of the post.
  • If you want to be persuasive, keep the pejoratives to a minimum.
  • Support your claims.
  • Responses should be more than just, "Yeah man, I agree!" - that is what likes are for. If you are going to respond to some one, say something substantive.
  • Critiques of posts are fine; let us avoid being grammar nazis however (I say this as an English Instructor with 10 years of EFL experience - if you can figure out what is meant, do not pick on someone's grammar/writing).
  • If you are uncertain about what someone has said - ASK FOR CLARIFICATION! Do not assume what they meant and then make an ass of yourself by responding to your assumption and not what the OP intended.

As I said, rules will evolve as we go - we can start with these.
