Not mating and getting along well, any ideas?

My male (yellow) canary lost his mate 4 months ago, since then we got a female (red) canary but they don’t seem to be getting along well and constantly nagging at each other whereas his previous mate was very calm with him. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks in advance
