Who knows why this opening appeared in both of our schedules? A few hours free of the demands of home life, children, work, and spouses.

Regardless of the unlikelyhood of a meeting, I have a plan for us. The anticipation grows as the hour draws near.

First we are meeting in a public place. Secluded from prying eyes, but open enough for us to enjoy the sun and some nature.

You greet me, absolutely radiant in the light, every bit as beautiful as I expected. We walk for a bit. The sun is warm and the air cool. We speak of everything, life, hopes, dreams and aspirations. I never knew someone could have so many nuanced interests. I could talk to you for hours.

The tension between us is palpable. You leaning in towards me as we slowly get closer and closer. Then, with my heart in my throat, I reach out and take your hand in mine. Slender fingers intertwine with mine. Your skin is warm and you slightly tremble at the contact with me.

What starts as holding hands becomes my arm around you. Our bodies are in contact, creating a mutual warmth. You are smiling. The day is exhilarating.

And what now? Why, now its time to visit another spot. This time for ice cream. We find a private spot and enjoy the sweetness, talking and laughing as we do. But there is still something missing. A need unfufilled. Your eyes meet mine. I reach across and smear a little ice cream on your lips. The simple act of humor breaks the tension for just a moment. We smile. I pull you in close and linger just for a moment before our lips meet. The sweetness of the ice cream mingles with your scent as we share a moment of passion.

So much fades in that instant. It almost seems as if the world pauses turning briefly. The people around us fade away. The sounds of activities that surround us are gone. It is just you and me. The warmth of our bodies grow, concerns and cares are banished to the back of our minds. Our arms encircle each other. If I could freeze this moment and cherish it forever, I would.

So much is unknown. When will we be able to do this again? What alibies will we use for our absence at home? What does all this even mean?

I reluctantly break the kiss and you remain there momentarily. Your eyes closed, the hint of a smile on your lips. The picture of a day that I would not trade for anything.

Your eyes open. In that moment, emotions flood our bodies. Desire, contentment, fulfillment, happiness, all tempered with a slight feeling of fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of discovery, fear of loss, fear of revealing our inner soul to another.

Our eyes meet. Immediately we know that we are safe with each other. There is nothing left to fear.
