Are we not all human?
A simple question to pose, with a deceptively simple answer. Is desire wrong? Desire for more than we have, right or wrong?
Are we not all human?
Desire to share a forbidden glance? Innocent enough in its nature. The simple act of eye contact, perhaps held a moment too long. Lingering as if to suggest or even perhaps invite.
Are we not all human?
Desire to share a smile? To see our feelings reflected in the face of another. The reassurance that a forgotten part of ourselves still exists and can be recognized in another. The feeling of the embers of what was so forcibly dimmed reawakening inside of us.
Are we not all human?
Desire to be close to another? An illegitimate proximity to another person. Not quite too close, but not quite appropriate either. Close enough to smell your perfume, the dampness of your lips, the adorable wrinkles your nose makes when you smile while looking up at me.
Are we not all human?
Desire for touch? The taboo brush of my hand against yours. The test for any fleeting resistance or hesitation, yet detecting none. My arm around you, hand in the small of your back, feeling the tension in your muscles, the quivering of adrenaline coursing through your body.
Are we not all human?
The desire for the most basic human emotion of all? The impermissable closeness, the sampling of taste and scent. The accompanying thrill of the illicit, but yearned for in so many ways.
