Went hiking with the family this weekend on the council bluff loop in southern Missouri and WE SAW A BLACK BEAR! I know they’re in Missouri but this is the first head to head encounter. It was a mother and a cub and they were grazing along the trail and we just kind of met up. I didn’t get any pictures because I was so frightened about seeing a bear. We high tailed it back down the trail about 100 yards and just started making lots of noise to announce ourselves and after a few minutes went to check it out and they were gone. Any advice for the next time this happens?
