Buying my first pair of winter boots. Need some suggestions.
Post Body

I am about to purchase my first pair of boots for this winter (Buffalo, NY) that can also be used for outdoor activities (mainly hiking). I personally don't care much for brand, mainly looking for a pair of boots that will keep my feet dry/warm and will work with my wardrobe.

I really like the look of these Lowas because they would be easy to match with my jeans and pants. If I shouldn't get these boots, can anyone recommend a pair similar to these Lowas in terms of "style" (don't like work boot styles like redwing or wolverine) and color? I am also trying to stay away from leather since the boots will be subjected to pretty hard conditions and abused a little from outdoor activities. My budget is around $250-300. Also, how are boots supposed to fit? Snugged? Somewhat loose to let feet expand? Any help is appreciated.

They're slowly starting to show, but like I said, I've been pretty tough on them. Lots of technical hikes on tough terrain. Laces just ripped though, but that's an easy replacement

So I actually have these boots and I love them! The gore-tex has been fantastic, and I'm already a year in with plenty of tough hikes on them. I definitely recommend them. You'll want to get about half a size to size up just for hiking purposes in general (feet expand, slippage for toes, etc). It will also be nice to have a little larger for thicker socks, which you'll definitely need for winter. But your best bet is just to go in store and try them on! Good luck
