We just completed a Thursday through Sunday stay at SVR (that's what all the cool kids call it). We had a GREAT time, and the people were extremely friendly.
Disclaimer:
We try to leave politics out of swinging, camping, and our life in general. We have friends (no, really, we do have friends) from all over the political spectrum, sexual spectrum, racial spectrum, and economic spectrum. We genuinely don't give a shit unless you do bad things or are a jerk. However, discussion of those items can lead to disagreements and hard feelings, so it is because of those things that we mention this.
The staff and ownership are conservative politically, and ardent supporters of the military, police, and all first responders. You will see a lot of signs around the property supporting those. You will also see signs of support for the second amendment.
We had no problem with this, and no one had a political conversation with us. Some might not like the vibe, so we are putting it out there for you to decide.
The Review:
Facilities - Very Good
Bathrooms - Clean with an open shower area so a few people can shower communally.
Laundry - Clean with all machines in good working order. $1.75/load to wash or dry.
Indoor Bar/Restaurant Area - spotless. The drinks were good; if the owner made them, they were strong. The food was average bar food in taste and variety (note: we didn't try every item on the menu).
Outdoor Pavillion Bar - The area is always open, but the bar is only staffed for events or big weekends. Note - they allow smoking in this area, so if that's not for you, use the inside bar or carry your drinks to the pool or hot tub.
Entertainment - They had a guy play acoustic and do cover songs on Saturday night (he sometimes plays there with his band). The guy was incredible. A really good player and a great singer. We was a true entertainer as well. The site also has an annual music festival (NudeRock) which is sold out for 2024 and nearly sold out for 2025. The site has permanent residents, so there are always pickleball games, golf (pasture golf in the pines - you have to see it), volleyball, and more.
Pool - Large, well-maintained, with a spacious area for sunning. The chairs and lounges were all newer and in good condition. There were a limited number of umbrellas, although they may have had more available, not sure).
Hot Tub - Huge rectangular hot tub that attracted a lot of couples.
Camp Sites - all are moderate-sized pull-throughs with full hookups. We did not see any concrete pads, but the ground is firm, and a fair amount of ground coral that helps keep mud to a minimum. They do daily trash pickup at each site, and if you need propane, you can leave a tank at the office, and they will bring it back to your site filled. Note - they also have a few "cabins" (park model trailers) for rent.
Pets - welcomed and loved if they are leashed and kept away from the pool/office/bar area. We had two dogs, and one out of every four or five sites had a dog or two.
Swinging - Here's the tricky part. Although the site is 21 and over, no overt sexual behavior is allowed publicly. What you do in your camper is your business, and we met four other swinging couples. I am sure there were more there. We changed our SLS location to White Springs, Florida, leading up to our visit and interacted with several people before we arrived. Some of them introduced us to others there. People were swinging, but nothing crazy in public.
The bottom line is that we plan at least two more trips there this year and perhaps even more.
I am sure we missed something. If you have any questions, we will try to answer them.
