Camp Kitchen Question: Is Cast Iron Worth It?
Post Flair (click to view more posts with a particular flair)
Post Body
I'm considering picking up a cast iron skillet and lid from BPS or REI.
Do any of you cook with these at your camp kitchen? Any pros/cons vs conventional cookware? I'm planning to get a campfire grill (probably just a generic Coughlan's one) and wanted to get a good set of cookware to use on said grill, when I want to cook over the campfire instead of a gas stove.

Yes, you can wash cast iron. Even with soap. The trope that you can't comes from back when soap was made with lye. It's very corrosive and would ruin the cast iron.
