Post Body

Tyler made his way out into the woods under the cover of the coming daylight. Dew was heavy on the blades of grass and before he even reached the tree line his shoes were soaked. Stopping and sighing at the annoyance he raised a hand and channeled his powers. A burst of air erupted from his hand and dried not only his shoes but also the grass around him. He smiled to himself and looked back at the camp to make sure he was still alone.

The hours passed as he walked and Tyler had a lot of time to think over everything that had happened at the camp in the days prior. First Kenzie died and then SJ. They were some of his oldest friends here at camp and now they were gone. He and Brooklyn were almost all that remained of the old guard, which made their relationship all the more fitting. Turning his arm over he looked over the black lines that represented his years in the legion. Twelve lines he counted...over and over. His life was tied to this camp. But as he learned of Lily and Nick’s life before camp he couldn’t help but feel that he was missing an important part of his life.

Tyler found a clearing in the woods that he thought would be good for his task. Getting down on his knees he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small piece of folded cloth.

** When you know the question you seek. Simply plant the seed.**

The disembodied voice was so clear that he looked around him expecting to no longer be alone. When he confirmed that was not the case he unfolded the cloth and produced the seed. Using his fingers he dug a small hole and planted the seed into the earth. Taking off his pack he pulls out a water bottle and pours some of the cool liquid over the freshly tilled earth. Standing up he looks around with held breath. He didn’t know what to expect but as the moments passed the clearing was as still as ever.

One minute...two...five...ten.

Still nothing happened. Dropping his shoulders he turned on the balls of his feet and came face to face with a large wolf. He staggered backwards in surprise and fell back on his backside. The wolf stepped forward the wind rustling through the chocolate red colored fur. Piercing silver eyes seemed to look right through him. Teeth white as snow appeared as the wolf’s lips curled into a wicked smile.

You may be bigger than we last met but you will always be a little cub.

Tyler slowly stood and brushed the dirt from his pants.

“Thank you for coming Lupa. I didn’t think this would work. I thought it was another of your tests.”

Lupa circled around him silver eyes never leaving him.

So what question do you seek the answer too.

He notices by her tone that her words were more statement than question. He knew that she already knew his question and was simply playing dumb. He opened his mouth to answer but nothing came out.

If you can not speak the question you are not ready for the answer.

Clearing his throat he continues to follow Lupa with his eyes.

“My mother...I want to know who she is. I want to know why she left me.”

Lupa stopped her circle and sniffed his arm.

You smell like the daughter of Apollo. I approve. Your fires burn similarly.

The large wolf moves towards the edge of the clearing. Right before passing the tree line she stops and looks back to him.

I can not give you the who or the why. Those are questions you must get to the answers to yourself. What I can give you is the where. Harbor Beach, Michigan.

With that answer she disappeared into the woods. Tyler waited a moment before looked back to where he planted the seed. In its place was a flower. He didn’t recognize it but it was purple in color.

As what Lupa had shared with him passed through his thoughts his body began to vibrate with anticipation. He took off at a full sprint back towards camp. He passed the barracks and praetor offices and didn’t stop till he got to the archives. Finding an atlas he opened the pages looking for the page holding the state of Michigan. Using the index at the side of the page he finds the city in question in the list of locations. His eyes scan the page until it lands on the destination. Harbor Beach looked to be a small town in the thumb area of the state. It would be a long journey. One that he couldn’t make at this time.

Soon...soon I will know who I am.
