I recently moved into my own apartment in Cambridge and I learnt about the opportunity to sign up for alternate suppliers. I am currently receiving basic service from Eversource at 12.517 cents/kWh between Jan - Jun and 9.877 cents/kWh between Jun - Dec. From http://www.energyswitchma.gov/ website I found out that suppliers such as Verde Energy USA claim to offer 100% renewable energy at 10.25 cents/kWh cost which would be great. However, I am also reading mixed reviews about these companies online.
During my research, I came across the Cambridge Community Electricity Program (https://masspowerchoice.com/cambridge/options-pricing) which has an option for a 100% Green energy for 11.94 cents/kWh. While it is a bit more expensive, I do not mind if they are reputable and are truly 100% renewable. I am curious to hear if any of you have used alternate suppliers and/or the Cambridge Community Electricity Program and how they compare.
