Device: Pixel 5
Location: St. Louis, MO
Carrier: Mint Mobile (T-Mobile Network)
The issue I am having is that, no matter where I go, my device always has troubles connecting to the mobile network. It drops connection very easily and typically in order for me to get a connection back, I toggle Airplane mode on/off several times until the little "!" goes away. The connection can still come and go by itself. But it's easier with the airplane mode toggle to try and force it to reconnect. If I am driving somewhere, I think I only have a connection about 10-20% of the time. If I am staying in place, I can get it to be more persistent. But it will still be about 30-70%. This issue is not new for me. I have had it ever since I got this phone for over a year now.
What I have tried:
- I switched from Ting to Mint Mobile
- I used Mint's APN settings. However with the MNC I am unable to change that to 260. I have read that there is nothing I can do about that. I was also told by a Mint customer service rep. that it should be okay. Here is a screenshot of my settings.
- In the Reset options menu I used the "Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth" option.
Here are some extra screenshots of any relevant settings I could find.
So with all of this information, I would like any advice on what I might be able to do to solve this problem. Thank you
EDIT: I think I finally fixed it. I changed my preferred network type by dialing *#*#4636#*#* and selecting Phone Information -> Set Preferred Network Type -> LTE/CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WECDMA (PRL). My phone is now using LTE over 5G and I am not dropping connection at all. I think if I changed the option in the last screenshot from 5G to LTE, it would work as well.
