I have had Calyx for 1 year and am up for renewal of my membership in 30 days. I am not texh savvy, my brain is just not equipped. I try to read and the words just jumble and my brain can't process the information. So please, any advice, ELI5, because I basically am.
I work from home and have the coolpad Surf. It's not always terrible, I've been really happy with it and have even recommended it to many people friends and neighbors because the internet options in my rural town suck, expensive and many problems still.
I have looked at the T-Mobile/Sprint coverage map linked through Calyx and I am in the 5G extended range area. I tried using the cellmapper linked in Calyx website but it doesn't make any sense to me (remember I'm mentally 5 years old).
I use Mint Mobile for my phone and while I don't get any service in my driveway, I get good service throughout my home generally. Speed tests on my phone and on my Calyx hotspot wifi are very very variable and are generally less than 7 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload. (The hot spot is generally worse than the mobile data)
Please please help me. I'm not that smart with this stuff but I'm not confident getting stupid Cox cable or Frontier is really going to be that much better, and it will be approximately 3x the cost. But lately, my work laptop has been almost unusable, freezing and running very slowly. I've googled ways to clean up the computer and scanned for viruses, and I just don't know what else I can do.
I am about to reach out to my IT at work for help with the laptop, but I expect once they see my internet speeds they will just tell me it's not the laptop, it's my internet.
