Hey all! Player here trying not to see all the cool stuff with this adventure so I’ll keep it short. I also figure this would be a good post IF this happens in YOUR game.

As the title says the rivals got the ‘vision’ and it’s partially our fault.

We had some REALLY good rolls and got the big bad shark by round 10 of the race.

We fought hard, beat the shark, and we managed to snag the festival necklace right as the rivals arrived. We were positioned in such a way (and at like 3 hp a piece) that it would be better to go back the way we came instead of the new way that opened up to the Crystal pillar room (we didn’t see it at the time). We were just super invested in the race. We even sealed off the way with an ice spell. We thought we were super clever!

We won the race but…the rivals come up from the water talking about “destiny” and “great things” and “we knew we we’re going to do better than this town.” We missed the call…

Not gonna lie…feels bad man. It honestly feels like we’re being punished for doing well.

Now the rivals are going off to the next step and we’re tagging along. We don’t want to hurt them since we like the characters so stealing the new necklace is off the table.

I wanted to know if there is a contingency for this situation as I don’t want to open the book. Should we suck it up and wait for the story to unfold or are we in for glorified escort quest from here on in? Thanks for any advice!
