How to log into user account on non-required server?

My instance is local only I don't currently have any access to it outside my network.

So I don't require username and password. This makes it easy for my phone to connect to it from Moonreader. I also access it from the browser.

What I can't do it upload an epub from the browser. I don't often need to but sometimes I get an epub on a different computer and it would be nifty to be able to log into the server so that I can upload the book from there. Problem is if I put in the URL it just connects with no way that I can see to login. Is it possible to login in this circumstance or do I have to turn on the requirement all the time.
