Today is game 1 of the 2024 Stanley cup finals. Regardless of whoever you decide to cheer for, it is guaranteed to be a fun series.
However, for us Flames fans (especially myself), I can’t help but feel so much remorse over what has happened in the past two years to this franchise that may have (in)directly led to this predicament.
Much like how Oppenheimer starts feeling some guilt and regret over what his building of the atomic bomb has led to (ie. Nuclear war paranoia for future generations), the Flames organization should at least feel some guilt over how they have been running this franchise:
-screwing up the development of Sam Bennett (now a key Panther player)
-trading away Tkachuk when we could’ve made him captain of the Flames
-Huberdeau is single-handedly setting bad records for his horrendous contract (made into fruition by the devil himself, Brad Treliving); at least Weegar and Kadri are doing fine for their hefty contracts
-our 2025 1st round pick might be given to the Montreal Canadiens (courtesy of the Sean Monahan trade made by the devil yours truly, Brad Treliving)
TLDR GM Conroy and management, whomever you decide to bring into the Flames team (draft, trade, etc.), don’t screw up like the previous regime did. Otherwise there will be more nuclear levels of toxic waste if you keep making bad decisions (I pray we’ll be better in the future, but I’ve been wrong before…)
