Photo Radar "Late Payment Charge" and Postal Strike.
Post Body

Last week I got a Notice of Conviction and accompanying $30 late payment charge for missing the court date, for what I assume is a photo radar, despite NOT receiving the original ticket. How am I supposed to pay the ticket, or show up for court, when they dont even send the friggin thing?!

There's a notice on fines.alberta.ca saying photo radar tickets are not being sent, due to previous mail strikes, which I understand. I am not arguing the original fine, I am disputing the bullshit additional $30 charge. It's only $30, but I am arguing it on the principle of a general Fuck You... It's like asking somebody to pay a fine which was purposely never sent to you. Makes no sense.

I can probably get the extra charge waived at the courthouse, but by doing so I'm wasting time and most likely a parking hassle and cost, which is essentially negating the original $30 fee, which is not fair to start with. I work 645-3:15 on the east end, they close at 4, probably no chance of even making it there in time. And I'm not taking time off work to deal with this, again negating the fine.

I called the number on fines.alberta.ca, talked to a useless clown, he gave me the number to talk to traffic advisor, who was equally useless. He gave me the direct number for the court house, which by that time was closed. Will try to settle it over the phone tomorrow, but I am not liking my chances.

According to recent news articles, there's over 100,000 radar tickets backlogged, so I assume I am not the only one dealing with this fuckamazoo.

Thoughts?
