What’s the point of those blue/violet lights situated here and there along Stony Trail?

Are they for reducing light pollution or something? But then why are they so spread out with so many white lights in between? Also why are some of them slightly different in colour? I’ve seen deep blue, dark indigo, light magenta, light blue and fluorescent green, among others.
