How to do o find mythril ore

I defeated the wall of flesh and got the message that my would has been blessed and stuff but I and can't find any of the special ores other then cobalt and palladium. I destroyed the demon alters but they give me souls insted of blessing. How do I find them? Do I have to defeat a different boss?
