Bypass cal poly wired firewall with a personal router?

for tech bros,
I want to play games that require P2P connection over cal poly ethernet, but the firewall prevents it. My NAT type is D, but I need A or B. I asked the tech department to allow it to be changed but they wouldn't do it.
I can't use a VPN because it's my nintendo switch.
If I buy a router, but still use the cal poly dorm ethernet, will I be able to bypass the firewall?
