Renting a Versa from Cactus Rent A Car in Cabo?

I've had really bad experiences renting cars at the airport, where a $300 quote turned into $1,000, so I'm very skeptical. But I would really prefer a car.
Cactus says they have a special for a Versa (which I like), for $40 a day including tax and liability insurance. It's a "grand total" of $280 for 8 days. Can I trust this, or will I be hit with surprise charges when I get there?
Any other companies I should be checking out?
