In the past couple weeks I’ve seen a lot of posts on wether you should fail and retake the class or withdraw.
If you’re interested in postbac (Masters, PhD, profesional doctorates, etc.) ALWAYS take the W.
The grade forgiveness DOES NOT erase the failed class from the transcript it only doesn’t get counted towards your CSULB GPA.
It’s easier to explain a W than an F and it looks better. I know advisors say W’s are bad, but the truth is an F is worse.
Again, this is mainly for people interested in postbac. If you’re going straight to work after graduation I seriously doubt an employer will care much about an F.
Edit: I want to clarify that I’m not saying you won’t get into a postbac if you retook a class after failing, I’m just saying it’s easier to explain that you had to drop a class. ALSO, this doesn’t mean you drop classes every semester! That also does not look great.
