Dorming for freshman c/o 2027

I just got accepted into csulb and Iām planning to commit right away. Iām confused how the housing system works though. Preferably I could get into parkside north but I heard freshman rarely get a spot in that building. Also, when do housing applications open up? And do I need to already have a roommate in mind before I apply if I want a say, or can I request someone later on in the process?
