Already too late to withdrawal online?

I just realized a certain class is a little too demanding given my current workload and attempted to withdrawal from it just now.
It wouldn't let me and when I checked the deadline was February 1st.
So do I need a withdrawal form and signature from the prof?
And does it affect my G.P.A.? I'm guessing I'll get a W on my transcript.
