Pain medicine doesn’t work at all

Does pain medicine just not work for anyone else? One time I was in the hospital and they gave me dilaudid, and even that didn’t touch it. My pain is flaring up so badly right now; I can’t walk, haven’t slept in days… and my doctor gave me a prescription for oxycodone, but it’s not helping at all. I’m so exhausted and frustrated :( how do you guys deal with bad flare ups without pain meds?
