I've got CTPSD (I think...) but I have only recently discovered it. I found my own solutions, and there is my problem:
- My solution was to spend most of my life in hypo-arousal.
- I have blunt emotions.
- I have low self esteem.
- Classic fawn/people pleaser.
- I'm not interested in other people.
- I'm not ambitious.
- I've lost interest in a lot of things that used to interest me.
- I have deduced several trauma events from other people's descriptions of events, but have essentially no memory of them myself.
But:
- I only have weak emotional flashbacks.
- Weak somatic flashbacks
- Occasional (1/month maybe) nightmares.
All of these are getting worse each year. This year it came to a climax, and I'm now in therapy.
But all the writing about CTPSD, talks about parts mediation when you have some form of intrusive memory, it gives you a window to communicate with one of your lost parts.
I've read Fisher's "healing the fractured selves of Trauma Survivors" But all her examples are people who are hijacked by their shards. She doesn't talk much about numbing, and hypo-arousal.
What books does the group mind recommend?
