How to cope when I can't get a therapist/psychiatrist yet?

I'm currently in the process of getting mental help through aid, but it's taking time to process. I feel like I've hit a point where I need professional help to continue. I'm struggling with broken memories, symptoms that seem to suggest that something that I'm not remembering is affecting me badly. I want help to uncover these secrets. I really wish I could do it alone but it's obvious I can't. Is there anything I can do to cope with my situation until I can get help?
