Troubles with validating trauma

I am in this community and send love to all my f you. Sometimes I hear people share stories and experiences that I cannot even imagine. In general I have two parents that love me. However I had a Dad who scared the shit out of me and physically hit me sometimes. It’s just hard sometimes for me to wrap my head around this being trauma. I know he loved me too which makes it extra hard. Does anyone else experience this?
