Does anyone question if their ‘trauma is really real’?
Post Body

To start, I’m absolutely not a person to EVER discount someone’s experience. If it traumatised you, it’s fucking valid. I struggle to have the same empathy with myself.

My parents are unfortunately sufferers of mental illness and throughout my life, myself and my brother have been a victim of this. Misdirected anger, witnessing moments of physical and emotional abuse between my parents and my brother, experiencing emotional and small moments of physical attacks. My mum throwing things at my head a couple times, my dad towering over me as a small child and screaming in my face. Being forced to be a certain person despite screaming out to escape. Mostly? Just being scared to be.

I feel like it wasn’t ’bad enough’. Does anyone feel this?
