Countertop water distillers? Are they any good?

For the last few months I've had intermittent issues getting distilled water for my humidifier tank when shopping due to all the Covid-19 stuff (why people are buying up all the distilled water and leaving all the other water on the shelf is beyond me).

Are countertop distillers any good? And can anyone recommend a decent one that won't break the bank? I'm seeing many for $90 and up, and I'm like... that'd buy me years and years worth of water (if I could find it) so I'd rather not spend that much unless absolutely necessary.
