Can I work in the industry and keep my CDL?

I just moved to CO from Louisiana, and have some time off of my CDL job due to an injury. I want to get into the industry, to gain knowledge on growing and the business side of things, but most places are requiring a MED badge. So my question is, if I obtain a MED badge to work in the industry for a few months or so, will it automatically cancel my CDL? Thanks in advance for any info!
