How would the sub feel about these game mechanics in WW2 Zombies?

Post Body

We all know that SHG is taking Zombies in a pretty new and exciting direction in regards to atmosphere and character, and it seems like it's well received from the sub so far. Earlier this year SHG said they wanted to take Zombies in an entirely new direction and deviate from the established formula to create their own distinctly unique experience, and it wouldn't exactly be a refreshingly unique experience without some game mechanics changes. I thought of a few that I think would be pretty cool to see and I wanna list them here. Feel free to add your own too:

  • Scavenging weapons. Zombies seems to be taking a much darker survivalist tone this year and nothing helps to accentuate helplessness and survival instinct than to scavenge for weapons wherever they may be. Randomizing weapon locations would also help to ramp up the frantic feeling of helplessness as you search and scan for anything to kill the undead with.

  • A more open world. I don't mean a full on open sandbox, but maps that are much more open and accessible than the maps of Treyarch and Infinity Ward that have fleshed out, well established lanes, zones, etc. I want to feel lost in these maps, hopelessly out of my element and with no idea where to turn. Large numbers of enterable buildings with fleshed out interiors, varied locales like dense alleyways and wide open town squares, barriers and obstacles that are actually able to be vaulted and passed over rather than being waist high decals with invisible walls. The most similar maps I could compare this concept to would probably be Shadows of Evil and Gorod Krovi, except on larger scales and with a much more open, non-linear structure.

  • An endless flood. Rather than distinguished rounds, a constantly steady stream of undead that ceaselessly spawn with small windows of hauntingly tense silence signaling a time for regrouping and preparation for the incoming horde. These times of silence and peace could be randomized events every game to keep the tensions high and make the player value those moments much more; one player may get lucky and get a decent number of breaks, while another will face a 10 minute straight horde rush with no reprieve. This should be balanced though so as to not make the challenge impossible.

  • SPOILERS FOR THE LEAKED TRAILER! Craftables making a return. We already saw a sort of turret device in the leaked trailer, looked to be some sort of flamethrower on a mount. I loved craftables in all of the Zombies iterations and we could see some cool concepts here. An MG turret you have to scavenge and craft with a tripod mount, a gun like an MG42/BAR/M1919/etc, ammunition, it could be a very effective counter offensive tool against the undead.
