The days are still cold, so you need a thick jacket everywhere you venture downtown. It provides excellent cover from prying eyes but also allows you to show off in the warmth of a bar. You venture into the Hewing Hotel, walk up to an open space at the lobby bar, and scan your surroundings, ensuring you feel safe enough to remove your coat. The bar has a few couples, a small gathering of locals, and several travelers working away on their laptops. You feel comfortable but have the sense that someone is watching from afar. The bartender brings you your favorite drink, and you nervously sip it as you scan the room again; then, you put your head down and scroll through Instagram.

Just as you finish your drink, the bartender brings you another and says the gentleman sitting at the end paid for it, but his chair is empty. Again, you scan the room, looking to catch someone staring or picking out who might have bought you the drink. You are frightened by not knowing who bought it, so cover up with your jacket and walk to the elevator for the rooftop lounge. That way, you would know if someone was following you.

The rooftop is crowded, with a few rowdy people on the patio enjoying the hot tub. You find a spot to sit where you can watch the elevator and see who might follow. Again, you enjoy your cocktail and flip through your phone, wondering who the stranger is. You still feel like someone is watching you, but nobody has approached from the elevator. Annoyed by your thoughts, you finish your drink, fold your jacket across your arms, and head back to the elevator.

Just as you press the down button, and large warm hand squeezes the nape of your neck and whispers into your ear: "Don't fucking turn around." As the doors open, he ushers you into the elevator and turns with you as he presses the 4th-floor button. "Fuck", you say to yourself, he is taking me to his room.
