Youâre driving home and your engine starts to sputter and bog down. All systems seem to be shutting down. You pull into a nice neighborhood to get off the main road. Your car shuts off. You try to start it repeatedly but no luck. You see a man come out of his house and walk toward you. He asks if you could use some help. You feel safe because itâs a nice neighborhood and the sun is only now beginning to set. He takes a look at your car and tells you thereâs not much he can do.
âWould you like to call a tow truck? Come on inside. You can wait in a warm house.â
He seems nice enough and it shouldnât take long for the tow truck to arrive. And itâs not late at night. âWell, ok. â You follow the nice man into his house through the garage. All the while heâs offering you food, a drink, whatever you like. âAt least Iâll be out of the coldâ you think to yourself. He opens the door and lets you in. He follows you in and shuts the door. And locks it. And then things start to go horribly wrong.
