Rule update: No ads offering to travel large distances for meetups
Post Body

Hi everyone, u/FunBlackmail here.

As much as I enjoy being a moderator here, there are two things that keep me up at night:

  • The fear that someone will use r/cnc_connect to arrange non-consensual rape
  • The fear that someone will use r/cnc_connect to exploit minors

Many of our rules and safeguards exist to prevent those two things, and the moderators are always looking for ways to reduce the risk of non-consensual harm without getting in the way of our users arranging safe CNC play.

With that goal in mind, we have made a small change to Rule 8 - namely, we added the bolded words below:

Any post not relating to local IRL con-non-con meeting up will be removed

All posts on this subreddit must relate to local, in real life (IRL) consensual-non-consent (CNC) meetups. Posts that are only looking for online interaction are not allowed. Posts offering to travel or to pay for travel are not allowed. This subreddit is also not intended for seeking long-term relationships. There are other subreddits for that.

Why this change was made:

Multiple users who were posting ads offering to travel for CNC meetups were reported (with screenshots) for stating that they had traveled for CNC meetups with users under the age of 18.

Rule 2 of our subreddit is "This subreddit is strictly 18 ," and goes on to say "do not imply you would be open to interaction with someone under 18" and rule 12 of this subreddit is "Report questionable behavior of any kind." When a high proportion of the users who are offering to travel for their interactions are doing so with the purpose of meeting up with underage partners, offering to travel becomes a violation of Rules 2 and 12.

r/CNC_Connect is not here to facilitate sex tourism, regardless of the ages of the people involved. Keeping your interactions local is safer for a number of reasons. It makes it easier to get the authorities involved if something goes wrong, it reduces the ability of bad actors to reach large audiences, and it incentivizes attackers to think about their long-term reputation as they carry out scenes.

Please note that we are not prohibiting all travel-related cnc activities.

The only thing banned by this rule change is posts that include an offer to travel for a CNC scene.

We are not banning:

  • Posts seeking CNC scenes in a specific place the user is visiting or will be visiting
  • Posts that mention 2 specific far-apart places where the user is looking for scenes (e.g. New York and London)
  • Private messages, DMs, etc discussing travel for a CNC scene

We are banning:

  • Posts offering to fly from one city to another for a meetup
  • Posts offering to pay for another person's travel (this has always been against our rules)
  • Posts from users who say they travel often (e.g. for work) but do not give a specific location where they are trying to arrange a meetup
  • Posts offering to travel large distances* for a meetup

* As a rule of thumb for what counts as a "large distance," use the gas tank rule. If you start with a full tank of gas/petrol and can travel to the meetup location and back without refueling, it is probably an acceptable distance. If a full tank of gas won't get you to the meetup location and back, you are probably traveling farther than we allow. Most cars can complete a round-trip of 200-250 miles on a single tank of gas. 200-250 miles is also a fairly average maximum range for a modern electric vehicle.

We welcome your feedback on this rule and our other rules. We will be updating our automoderator code to reflect this rule change and provide automated advisories on posts that seem to violate this updated rule.
