I’m looking to buy a new machine with a budget of 200K. I’m leaning more towards a haas DS 30Y for the interpolating capability on the sub spindle. But honestly with this price range I’m debating whether to go Swiss. I know the bar diameter is limiting and wouldn’t be able to turn larger parts, but better finish and faster production for smaller diameter parts. I’m still on the fence and just want to know any more advantages and drawbacks of one platform vs another. And see if anyone else has a haas DS30Y and could share some nuances. I know the Y rails are open with no covers which concern me. I’m looking for lots of lights out production with macros to probe and check parts with lots of support and maintenance availability for parts and service too.
