So for the entire history of the university, this grand song has just been called the "MSU Fight Song." In a conference that has songs named like "the Buckeye Battle Cry," "On Wisconsin," and "The Victors," it is nice to have a change from a generic title to something inspiring and rousing. In the 100th year of the new song, presenting the new title: "Victory for MSU!".
Over the last few years, the phrase has been worked into the game by the announcer ("Alright Spartan fans, let's sing the great old fight song, and cheer on victory for MSU!"). In recruiting and social media, #V4MSU has been employed more and more of late as a form of branding. The regents insisted for a long while that they wouldn't rename the song, but I'm glad that they caved to reason.
To celebrate the occasion of Homecoming, the MSU College of Music mixed together Spartan alumni and family singing the fight song from around the world. (Warning, the voices are generally not good. It is a fairly difficult, chromatic piece, and Lord knows I struggle with the song. If you like the tune, just listen to the first link again.)
I've been waiting for this day for a few years. At the Purdue game, listen for a longer playing (all the verses) of the fight song.
