For the next few years, the reign of Aegor Targaryen would be a peaceful one, colonising nearby abandoned lands and gifting them to loyal vassals. Aegor's regent was still being unfair, having a negative opinion of Aegor, and a rivalry would blossom between Aegor and his cousin, Aegon, now known throughout the world as Aegon the Exile, to his anger and chagrin. Aegor laughed with his friend, Allard Seaworth, once he heard the news of this. Davos Seaworth had come to Aegor after he had dropped Lyanna Stark and her child in Pentos, seeking to serve the Targaryen family, he had not been refused.

Before long, however, Aegor could not delay much longer. If he wished to be taken seriously by his vassals and delay any chance of a rebellion before his majority, a war would sate them. He looked across the local lands for a suitable enemy, before launching an invasion of Norvos, seeking to liberate the Free city. Aegor, like the rest of his family, had learned in time to resent slavery and those who practised it.

Aegor's councillors took to the idea of war with relish and quickly conquered plenty of Norvos' lands, before beginning the march on Norvos itself. As the war for Norvos headed to victory, a raven reached Aegor from his vassal, Viserys Targaryen. Viserys had attempted to hatch the dragon egg he was gifted by Aegor when he first arrived in Ibben, the hatching had failed and the dragon egg was destroyed. Viserys was devastated, Aegor was worried. One dragon had failed, the rest must succeed!

As Aegor pondered this, his hand wandered over his own dragon egg. Curiously, he could feel heat coming from it. Could he hatch his own? Wisely, he decided, he would wait, he would sail to the places of Old Valyria, and learn all the secrets of dragon lore, then he'd try.

As Aegor wondered on the secrets of dragonlore, another raven arrived, this time from the war in Norvos, the city had fallen and the Archeon had given up the city. Norvos now belonged to Aegor, and was part of Ibben. With this first conquest, Aegor knew what his destiny was. It wasn't to just hatch dragons and retake the throne for the Targaryens. It was to reconquer the Free Cities and reforge Valyria itself! Reforge the great Empire, in Fire and Blood!
