Hey all. My gg grandfather was in the 82nd PA Infantry and was in Gettysburg among several other battles. I actually have his rifle too but anyway I had a question.
My dad said his dad went with the gg grandpa to Gettysburg well after the war was over and he swore he remembered him taking him to where he was at during the battle and it was defending LRT. Then my father and I a few years back went to Gettysburg with my son and one of the guides there said the 82nd PA defended Breed's Hill (I think, it was definitely a hill but not LRT). This kind of seemed to disappoint my dad because I guess LRT is more well-known.
But then I did a chat gpt and it said 82nd PA defended LRT. So is there any way to know where he might have been for sure? Did they typically stay in one spot for days during a battle? Appreciate any input!
