Hi everyone, I'm excited to share about my journey and hope it helps someone here. As I received so much help from this community including the material preparation :)
I have 2 year of consulting experience, and I prepared for an year intermittently, with the last 2 months concentrated (as I don't want to revise all the stuff again after the syllabus update). I used CRM, QAE, doshi book and some practice questions site (examtopic, briefmenow) and below is the review.
At first I want to minimize the effort by just using doshi material and QAE, but I found it would be wasteful of QAE if I don't even understand the basic framework. Therefore I turn to CRM and read the material briefly once (used around 2 week), then do the QAE for twice and leave the practice test the day before I attempt the exam.
QAE - very very useful - for you to understand the logic and ISACA mindset. But itself did not cover all the content appearing in the actual exam. Sometimes options in QAE were not even mentioned in CRM, accept it.
Doshi Book - to me, it gives an incorrect assumption to me about the CISA coverage... until I really read the CRM. It can be used as supplementary material but not recommend to be the sole reference.
Doshi question - not useful, just leave them if you have no time.
CRM - I know it is boring, but it is essential for your understanding. Life is hard, so as understanding CRM; as I sometimes feel frustrating why I have to study the business framework and technology from 5 even 20 years ago - will recommend it with chatgpt explanation.
Examtopic - just to familiar yourself with more questions, it doesn't provide real answer and you have to cross check the discussion and/or with your own judgment. I did around 300 questions in this site but never review them.
Briefmenow - I did around 50 questions, but it is due to time constraint. It provides explanation and personally I believe it is useful too.
My study path:
Doshi Book question -> CRM per domain QAE per domain (i.e. do the QAE right after I finish the domain); and highlight questions I did wrong with try to referring which part of CRM cover that -> exam practice questions (prevent me answering correctly just becoz I memorised the questions) ->QAE second time -> QAE final pratice test -> exam
The actual exam was difficult to me, I flagged a lot during answering and I tried to answer in short time. (My personal technique as it prevent me from overthinking) Answering 150 questions with 1 hour 20 mins. Then I reviewed from start and changing my answer around 20 questions during my checking. I finished the test in around 2 hours 10 mins; and I was really relieved when I see the preliminary pass. Now pending for the detail score breakdown. :)
Thank you for your reading and I am happy to discuss about anything!
