Hi all, I am a bit in doubt whether experience at a Discount brokerage would count towards the CFP work requirement?
As Discount brokerages are execution only, I have indepth knowledge of Stocks, GICs, Options, Bonds etc but by CIRO (ex IROCC) we are not allowed to give advice.
The FP Canada advisors are saying there is a good chance it can be used, but that seems like a ploy to get me to shell out for the courses.
My question: Has anyone successfully used work experience from a Discount Brokerage in Canada towards qualifying for the CFP work requirement?
Thanks :)
Just as an example I have listed a role at BMO that is exactly what I do (I dont work for BMO...or do I?)
