WEEK 7 CFB GAMES RANKED BY INTRIGUE
Post Body

HOWDY all COLLEGE FOOTBALL enthusiasts! In honor of a slow work day for me and what looks like to be an awesome week 7 of games, I will be ranking some upcoming games by how interesting they will be.

I am still recovering from week 6. By far one of my favorite weeks in all of college football. The sheer chaos, the unexpected, just wow. Hopefully, we get something like that this week.

27. #21 Missouri @ UMass

After getting demolished at Kyle last Saturday, Mizzou will be looking to bounce back. Luckily, they play the UMass minutemen. Safe to say that this will be the perfect game for them to find out what went wrong and fix them ASAP, as they have some difficult SEC games to play afterwards.

26. Mississippi State @ #5 Georgia

I feel so bad for state. After getting throttled by MAC powerhouse Toledo and #1 Texas, the Bulldogs will travel to Athens to play a very dangerous Georgia team. On the bright side, at least Miss State also plays UMass later on in the season..??

25. #10 Clemson @ Wake Forest

Imagine losing to Wake Forest in 2024. *cough* NC State *cough*. Seriously though, WF is struggling on both sides of the ball. This should be a relatively easy game for the Tigers.

24. Northwestern @ Maryland

This game may not have many fans watching it, but it will at least be competitive. Northwestern has shown faint signs of playing good football, as well as Maryland. Even though both teams are in the bottom tier of the B1G, it could be somewhat entertaining.

23. #17 Boise State @ Hawaii

Let's be real here. Hawaii is about to get beat so bad that they might actually leave the conference. Let's also be real here: we're all gonna want to tune in anyways to see Heisman frontrunner Ashton Jeanty continue to put up some diabolical numbers as the generational talented RB continues to do.

22. Purdue @ #23 Illinois

Illinois is such an interesting team. They have a pretty strong defense, and while their offense is nothing crazy, I think Altmyer can throw the ball pretty well. Purdue, on the other hand, just couldn't wait for Basketball season to come already.

21. Louisville @ Virginia

Is Louisville good? Is Louisville bad? I have legitimately no idea. They seem to have control offensively, with Shough and Brooks being a pretty good combo. But defensively, I can't seem to say the same. After losses to Notre Dame and now SMU, Louisville just can't seem to get it together against teams of higher caliber. Hopefully, they can put those issues aside for Virginia.

20. Cincinnati @ UCF

SORRY, THE EXPLANATION FOR THIS HAS DECIDED TO REDSHIRT FOR THIS WEEK AND WILL ENTER THE 2025 NCAA TRANSFER PORTAL

19. Syracuse @ NC State

Kyle McCord and the Orange football team continue to impress. While not the greatest team in the world, it is a miles better team than they were last year. This team continues to rack wins, including a very close win over previously undefeated UNLV. While NC State is not a good squad this year, it will be interesting to see if Syracuse can continue playing good ball.

18. Georgia Tech @ North Carolina

Oh boy, now this game intrigues me. Tech has showed that it can move the ball very well offensively, and UNC can too. Both teams lack critical defense, so I'm expecting this one to be a very fast paced high scoring game.

17. Minnesota @ UCLA

The golden golphers, while not having the best record, shouldn't be scoffed at. They play with a solid defense, losing narrowly to Michigan, but recently beating USC. However, they pretty much got handled by Iowa. UCLA may not be anything crazy, but these teams can play a very competitive game.

16. Washington State @ Fresno State

Don't look now, but Washington State is only a 2.5 favorite over Fresno State. Wazzu has had some great wins over Texas Tech and Washington, but also got destroyed by Ashton Jeanty. Fresno State isn't anything crazy, having boasted a 14-59 loss to UNLV, but something is making them being only a 2.5 point underdog, so I'm assuming it'll be somewhat competitive.

15. Wisconsin @ Rutgers

Talk about an interesting team. Rutgers is currently 4-1 with interesting wins over Washington and Virginia Tech. Wisconsin imo matches pretty well against them. Should be an interesting game.

14. Stanford @ Notre Dame

TRAP GAME ALERT! Notre Dame may be 22 point favorites, but Stanford is probably the most random team in the country. On one hand, they can show up to be Ayomanor Inc. and demolish your team, but on the other hand, they'll show up as Academia University and get demolished. Notre Dame will need to make sure they don't allow Ayomanor to make plays, which they really shouldn't have a problem with considering the strength of their secondary core, but this game has trap written all over it.

13. Utah @ Arizona State

At some point, you just gotta let go of the Cam Rising experiment. This man cannot stay healthy and should seriously consider medically retiring from football. Great talent, but he is just going to destroy his body if this keeps going on. Isaac Wilson may not be nearly as good as Rising, but you have to run with him until this next season. Maybe Rising will be back? Who knows?

12. #11 Iowa State @ West Virginia

Iowa State keeps winning, and they look damn good in their games. The thing is though, does West Virginia. Neal Brown's squad has a very good offense, which the Cyclones will try to stop with their defense. This game will have a lot of tomfoolery going on, and should be a very entertaining watch regardless of the outcome.

11. Washington @ Iowa

If you had told me last year that a Washington VS Iowa football game would be competitive, I would've told you to quit drinking. It's actually crazy to go from a Penix offense VS Iowa's Field Goal Playbook to this banger of a game this season. After beating Michigan, Washington is a threat, and Iowa ain't no slouch. Will be a fun game regardless.

10. #14. BYU @ Arizona

BIG 12 POWERHOUSE BYU is taking on Arizona this week in what could be one of the most interesting games this week. While Retzlaff still has consistency issues, he is still a good QB, and BYU's defense is also solid. Arizona will have all hands on deck this week as they try to finally hand BYU its first loss.

9. #18 Kansas State @ Colorado

Very very tricky. That's how I'd describe this game. Kansas state is a really good football team with a high tempo offense. Colorado also has some pesky weapons in Sanders and Travis Hunter. Hunter is imo the best athlete in all of college football, so it will be very interesting to see how the Wildcats try to stop him from being utilized in the game. That's the key. Manage to slow down or stop Hunter, and this game is much more manageable in Boulder.

8. South Carolina @ #7 Alabama

Oh boy. The cocks may be in for a beating of a life time. Fresh out of one of the craziest upsets in all of college football history, the Crimson Tide may be out for blood. South Carolina is unfortunately on the receiving end of it. However, this game is not completely free. While the Gamecocks had an embarrassing performance last week against Ole Miss, they still did boatrace Kentucky, who beat Ole Miss. So technically, the gamecocks still beat Ole Miss, somehow /s. Do I think this game will be much more competitive that people may think? I do. This would be way lower on the list, but as shown last week, anything can happen in football. South Carolina has a chance to do the funniest thing ever.

7. California @ #22 Pittsburgh

California arguably made the biggest choke last week when they were up 27-10 at halftime against Miami, then proceeded to completely fall apart on defense in the 4th quarter. California shows signs of brilliance, yet they cannot capitalize on these moments, as they are 2024 Florida State's sole win so far. Pitt is one of the hottest teams in the country right now. Currently undefeated with a 1-0 conference record, it will be very interesting to see if they can continue this streak with a decent foe.

6. Florida @ #8 Tennessee

Tennessee throughout its last two games showed glaring problems that wasn't evident earlier in the season. Iamaleava is a true freshman. I think a lot of people forgets that crucial part. He may not be playing nearly as well as Hendon Hooker, but he has way less experience. This lack of experience showed during Oklahoma and at the shocking defeat to Arkansas. SEC Defenses are extremely tough, and Nico will need to bring his A game, especially against a Florida squad that really shouldn't be underlooked at. Graham Mertz is like 50 years older than Nico, and brings a level of experience that can prove to be challenging for the Vols defense. However, as long as McCoy continues to be a stud, they should have this one. But this will still be a very entertaining game.

5. Vanderbilt @ Kentucky

HERE WE ARE BOYS. HEISMAN WINNER DIEGO PAVIA TRAVELS TO LEXINGTON TO TAKE ON THE KIFFIN KILLER WILDCATS. What a day for me to say that a Vanderbilt VS Kentucky game would be entertaining, but here we are. Vanderbilt proved that it can run a very dangerous offense, as they pulled off one of the best upsets in history in beating #1 Alabama. However, Kentucky is no slouch, as their defensive is very dangerous. They pretty much shut down a high powered Ole Miss offense. As such, this game is guaranteed to be a banger. Vandy has opened some eyes out there, and Kentucky also did after beating Ole Miss. Can't wait to see how this one plays out.

4. #4 Penn State @ USC

Although USC had a very bad loss this week, you can't really count out a Lincoln Riley team. Penn State has a chance this week to really solidify that they are well deserving of a top 5 ranking. Even though they already beat good teams like Illinois and West Virginia, having a USC win would bolster its resume even more. The key is to have Allar have a good rhythm going on. Miller Moss showed signs that they need to work on last week, and Lincoln Riley has the coaching capabilities to do so. Should be a very fun game.

3. #1 Texas @ #18 Oklahoma [Red River Rivalry]

I can't believe that this game isn't #1 for me, which shows how good some of these games this week can be. Texas imo is clearly the team to beat this season. Strong in pretty much everywhere with no glaring weaknesses. However, this is going to be the hardest team they've played this season. While Oklahoma is double digit underdogs, you can never be sure what can happen in this rivalry. Last year, Oklahoma won off of a late TD in an absolute classic. The year before that? Texas dropped a nuclear bomb on them, winning 49-0. This game can have so many unexpected things that makes it so much fun. Looking forward to see both teams giving it their all. One of the many games that can have a very strong playoff indications.

2. #9 Ole Miss @ #13 LSU

Now this game is going to be a banger. Jaxson Dart's offense vs a very strong Nussmeier offense is sure to be very entertaining. Ole Miss has a stronger defense than LSU, but playing in Death Valley is excruciatingly difficult, and can hinder Ole Miss's ability to really focus and win. Ole Miss is still a frontrunner for the SEC title, even with a loss to Kentucky, while LSU is one of the only 3 remaining undefeated conference teams in the SEC. Should Ole Miss win, they have a very strong argument of being a top team and shows that they can bounce back after Kentucky. Should LSU win, it would setup a matchup between undefeated conference foes against the Texas A&M Aggies (assuming they win against Miss State). This clash will definitely have playoff implications, as both teams will need a win to further bolster their resume.

1. #2 Ohio State @ #3 Oregon

Get ready for a certified classic right here. Ohio State is probably the only other team out there that can hang with Texas as the nation's best team. They will be tested on Saturday against Oregon, who is only one rank below them. Oregon has already played some very difficult opponents, including Boise State and in-state rival Oregon State. Ohio State will be looking to utilized Will Howard, who is a very good QB, and their strong run game. Oregon also has a great QB in Dillon Gabriel, and an even better WR core. Should be very competitive game between two exceptional offenses. Imo, this is the most intriguing game of the week and a lot of questions surrounding both teams will be answered when this one is done.
