In August of last year I decided to sign up for Level 1 in June of 2018, as I thought it would be impossible to pass L1 in Dec and turn around and do it again in June for L2. I’ve talked to a few charter holders that I know and they told me that my study plan was solid and I should be more than fine but I’m still having doubts.
My plan so far was to watch all of the Kaplan videos and take notes and then go back through and do the end of chapter questions for everything. I made a spreadsheet tracking how I’m scoring on each section and it’s weighted based on the exam weightings. I got through everything by doing this method, all videos and all end of chapter questions by the end of December. I was still funny on all of the stats stuff, the notations didn’t click so when I would read a question I had no idea what the eff it was even asking. I went back and started forms square one with Kaplan and Mark Meldrum videos and feel I’ve got a better handle on it now.
I’ve done about 1400 practice questions so far over all the subjects and am trying to hammer on ethics, fra, quant and fixed income the most heavily. My target, is to average a 76% on a weighted scale that’s similar to the test but has some slight adjustments based on my current strengths and trying to be efficient with time(only going for 50% on Econ, shooting for 85% on PM etc).
Probable is, I’ve been doing this stuff for months now and am just feeling overwhelmed that it’s going to be impossible to remember everything on here. None of it is too complicated but the equations can vary so slightly and it’s sort of freaking me out. I read all the people saying they passed L1 and felt like they absolutely bombed it, so I know that you don’t have to get a 90% to pass and that it can be surprising but it seems as though the test date getting closer is moving a lot faster than my internalization of the material.
Any tips?
