Word on the tier is that at a certain prison in NorCal, the union is going around telling their membership that they shouldn’t be in contact with the former Lieutenant on YouTube “That Prison Guard”???
If this is true, the union has no authority on who you can communicate with especially on your own time. However in policy, no employee shall have any type of relationship with an inmate, parolee, of family members of inmates and parolees. In my opinion, that part of the policy should be updated that exempts employees that may have family members that are either an inmate or parolee.
Now if an officer is sharing confidential information with anyone outside of the workplace, that officer can receive disciplinary action including termination.
