During the late afternoon on Thanksgiving my mother and I went for a walk around the neighborhood. A few minutes into it, we heard a bunch of noise behind us and turned to see a pack of 8-10 pretty rough looking dogs running hard up the road behind us. These were not household pets, they were filthy from head to toe and clearly had been outside for some time. As they ran closer I put my hand on the grip of my pistol but did not draw. Thankfully they ran by us without even paying us any regard.
It ended up being nothing, but the point of this post was to say that “using” your CCW does not have to involve drawing and shooting someone or something. It saved us from the mental rep of having to confront a pack of potentially hostile dogs unarmed, and I consider that comfort factor to be a form of the pistol doing its job. Even my mom said she was glad I was armed, as the situation would have been pretty scary without it.
Stay safe out there y’all.
