CBD induced anxiety attack?

Post Body

I ordered 50 mg Broad Spectrum CBD capsules from Irwin Naturals. I have basically no experience with CBD's except for briefly experimenting with some low dosages several months ago for sciatica. I have also been taking 300 mg ashwaganda gummies, up to 4 at a time.

So I took my first CBD capsule in tandem with somewhere between 600 and 1200 mg of ashwaganda. I could feel effects I was not used to, supposedly from the CBD after about an hour and a half. I experienced a tingly, warm sensation, most notably on my head and face, behind the ears and on the scalp. This was coupled with a bit of a head rush and disorientation. I felt slightly outside of my body. The ashwaganda most likely took effect around the same time and made me feel pleasantly drowsy.

That first experience wasn't bad by any means, but the second day I decided to take 100 mg of CBD by itself, so I could differentiate which effects were caused by the CBD's and which were caused by ashwaganda.

About an hour and a half later, the CBD's hit me like a ton of bricks. The tingling sensation began (safe to say it was twice as intense). I had a head rush, like a wave of adrenaline. I started panicking a bit. The warm, tingling sensation was becoming too much to deal with. I became restless and I had to get up and pace around and focus on my breathing. I was filled with terrible feelings of fear and anxiety. I told myself everything was going to be fine. At the same time, I was kind of disoriented, like a bit outside my body. I thought about calling an ambulance. I couldn't sit or lay down, even though I wanted to, because I the hyper sensitivity would drive me crazy. For some reason, massaging my head and face seemed to help. The tingling sensation found its way down my extremities. My thoughts were.

I forced myself to lay down. Dread would come in waves and I would try to calm myself down before it took over. I fidgeted and stretched and rubbed my scalp restlessly. This lasted for about an hour, then started giving way to a tranquil feeling. The hypersensitivity was still present, but the anxiety started letting up. I didn't sleep super well, as I was kind of worked up at the same time, but I somehow still felt tranquil and well rested.

All in all, it was a pretty frightening and miserable experience. I'd like to get some clarity on what happened, because everyone says CBD doesn't have the ability to cause the effects that I described. But I know what I felt was real. Has anyone else had an experience like this?

Edit: I stand corrected, they are not Broad Spectrum, they are Full Spectrum. They have at maximum 0.3% THC (supposedly) by dry weight. Each capsule contains 588.24 mg of Full Spectrum hemp extract, therefore there is a maximum of about 1.75 mg of THC per capsule. This means I ingested a maximum of 3.5 mg of THC, assuming their testing is accurate.

Being as my symptoms seem to fit squarely with those induced by THC, my guess is it was probably that. This was my first time ever taking THC into my body, so I understand that I had no tolerance whatsoever, but can this low of an amount cause this kind of reaction?
