While visiting here in Egypt we have used the foreigners train ticket reservation desk (Cairo) a few times (up on the 1st floor).
Each time it’s been the same staff member and she’s been really helpful.
This morning on our way to catch the train to Alexandria (tickets which cost us $60 each return) my friend discovered the tickets were missing. We rushed back to our hotel and turned the room upside down but still couldn’t locate the tickets.
We went to the station and with minutes to spare went to the same ticket desk again. We were expecting to pay for new tickets and she very kindly let us photograph the pink copy of the tickets we purchased in the ticket book (we originally had the blue copy). We then thankfully made the train and the day was saved.
My friend and me wanted to say thank you, but it raises a number of questions - if you give money how much? What if it’s too little and insulting and as official staff can she even accept money? Then we thought about flowers , but haven’t seen any florists and some people don’t like flowers. Does anyone have any advice on gift giving for the above situation or do we just accept she gave excellent customer service ?
Even before this happened I was thinking of writing a thank you letter , but wasn’t sure what address to use either ?…
Advice please and thank you x
