I was never a jogger - but very athletic when I was young. (did high school track but 100% a sprinter, 100, 200, long jump and hurdles. I also was a field hockey player) I have put on weight over the years - and am about 50lbs overweight now. (I'm 5'9") I'm determined to get FIT before I turn 50 in about 14 months.
Somehow - I got a bee in my bonnet to do this sort of running program. I'm on Atkins (keto) diet too. The weight is coming off just fine and the running is difficult but rewarding. (I thought I was going to die on day 1 - and disgusted I could barely run 1 minute at a time)
Anyway - I haven't been terribly public about this C25K program with friends/family. But my boyfriend is concerned - thinks there are less stressful (on knees etc) ways for me to get fit. Same with my brother. It annoys me. I really want to try to do this. It's new and exciting and hard and I'm being careful.
Am I wrong? In denial of my age? To me, the biggest challenge is that I'm not a jogger by nature...but a sprinter. I have a lot of muscle, etc.
Anyway - I wonder if other 40 year olds are getting the same reaction?
