In short I've noticed A LOT of monarch caterpillars all over my garden they're on my cactus, they're in my plants, they're on my windows and my garage doors! This is not a complaint, I love the monarch butterflies. My niece spends hours looking for caterpillars and cacoons but I have found cacoons on the floor and I I didn't know what to do with it! I found a cacoon on my garage door and it was baked by the sun! I found a cacoon surrounded by spiderwebs! So if anyone has some knowledge or knows the answers to some of these questions or any resources for creating a good environment/ecosystem for monarchs please let me know!
Cacoons: How resilient are cacoons? Can they be relocated if they're somewhere bad? Are they done for if I find one on the ground? Can cacoons grow healthy on any plant? Is there anything I can do to ensure cacoons grow healthy?
Caterpillars: Should I be worried if I see more than one type of caterpillar? Do different breeds fight? What do caterpillars eat? Can I leave yard trimmings near their favorite plants? Are there any plants that are bad for them? Are there plants that will help them grow strong?
Butterflies: Is there anything over all I can do to help butterflies come out healthy? I love seeing a fluttering monarchs but I have also seen a couple of small winged and broken winged monarchs I usually take them to the back yard and put them on a flower. Is there anything I can do so they come out with less deformities? What plants are best? Are there any good combos? I just want them to have everything they need and want in my garden so they can come back time and time again.
